REVIEW: Sun King Bourbon Barrel Wee Mac
More Sun King! Hooray! Now this beer came in a rather unique packaging. A two pack. I don't believe I've ever seen that before. But I do suppose that this is a special beer. From some quick research online this King's Reserve is a banner under which they package a lot of their limited, specialty releases. What we have here is a version of their Wee Mac Scottish ale that has spent a year in bourbon barrels. Sounds tasty to me! To the beer!

REVIEW: Sun King Osiris
The last time I looked at a beer from Sun King it was the Sunlight Cream Ale that I got when I went up to Indy to see Dark Knight Rises in IMAX. That was fun. I should do that again. Anybody know if Pacific Rim was actually shot in IMAX? That movie looks incredible. IMAX is sort of like 3-D for me, If a movie was shot in 3-D or IMAX, I'll check it out. If it's upconverted, like most big action movies that come out are, it isn't worth the extra cash for the ticket. But yeah, Pacific Rim looks insane. Idris Elba fighting Kaiju? Sold. Who wants to go see it with me? Back to the beer. Today we're looking at Osiris, the last of Sun King's core beers and a dry hopped west coast style pale ale. To the beer!

REVIEW: Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale
So I recently found myself in Indianapolis again visiting friends. And what do I do when in a new city? Make my way to the best liquor store in town and spend too much money on beers that I can't get at home. You may remember that the last time I was in Indy I came home with a bottle of Boulevard's Double-Wide. An excellent double IPA and my first ever beer from the venerable Kansas City brewer. This weekend I made sure to grab another of their brews and found myself drawn to the bottle you see above. Tank 7, an 8.5% ABV 38 IBU saison. To the beer!

REVIEW: Anderson Valley Belk's ESB
I've had this beer in the fridge for a couple of weeks. I knew I would get to it sooner or later but the decision was made for me when I snagged that awesome glass you see up there. I'm a fan of Anderson Valley and I always dig an ESB. Let's dispense with the pleasantries and just get right down to it. To the beer!

REVIEW: Christian Moerlein Saengerfest
It's been a good long time since I've taken a look at a Moerlein beer. Today's is one of my favorites. I remember fondly getting all inebriated drinking this particular beer at my friend David's wedding. I love a wedding with good beer. In fact, the reception was at the very building depicted on this label. Anyway, Sangerfest. It's a german style maibock, one of my favorite lager styles. Let's get to it. To the beer!

REVIEW: Avery The Reverend
A while back I lamented that, with my look at The Czar, I had officially run out of beers from Avery's Dictators series beers to talk about. What I forgot though, is that there's a whole other series of wonderful beers from Avery, the Holy Trinity of Ales. In that series are, Hog Heaven, a heavily hopped barleywine, Salvation, a Belgian style golden ale, and the beer I'll be talking about today, The Reverend a 10% ABV Belgian style quad. I'm always a fan of a big, dark, malty Belgian style beer, so I'm pretty excited to give this one a try. To the beer!

REVIEW: Southern Tier Compass
So I have no idea what to make of this beer. It's a new imperial offering from Southern Tier, I do know that. But as far as style goes, or what to expect it to taste like? I couldn't begin to tell you. The bottle refers to it as a bottle conditioned sparkling ale brewed with rose hips and citrusy hops. In wine sparkling refers to carbonation, but all beer is carbonated. Maybe it's brewed with a champagne yeast similar to Sam Adams' Infinium? But if there was champagne yeast in here I feel like they'd call that out specifically. So who knows. But Southern Tier has earned my trust, I'll give anything that they brew a shot. To the beer!

REVIEW: Avery Twenty
In the year and change since I've been doing this blog I've had the chance to try three of Avery's anniversary beers. First Eighteen, a rye saison, and Nineteen, a Belgian style tripel. This year is a pretty big year for Avery. Although, for a brewery, is the twentieth anniversary the big one, or do they hold off on the huge celebrations for the twenty first anniversary? Hmm. Well, whatever the case may be, twenty years of brewing excellent beer is an accomplishment to be applauded. So, I raise this glass full of dry-hopped imperial IPA to the folks at Avery. To the beer!

REVIEW: De Molen Bed & Breakfast
Another grab from my fridge full of beer. Today, we have a new brewery to the blog, De Molen from the Netherlands, with a very interesting beer. Bed & Breakfast, an amber ale brewed with pale and cara barley malts, sladek and amarillo hops, and coffee. We've seen coffee porters and stouts aplenty, and even a coffee IPA, but never a coffee amber. I'm excited to see how this works out. To the beer!

REVIEW: RCH Old Slug Porter
In the past I've done weeks here on the blog that had a bit of a theme. A week when I would do nothing but barleywines, or nothing but beers from MadTree. Nothing like that will be happening here in the foreseeable future. I've got a whole mess of beers sitting it my fridge at the moment and I'm just going to be grabbing what sounds good at the moment. So that lead's us to today's beer, Old Slug Porter from RCH Brewery. I'm a sucker for a funny animal sidekick so the mustachioed monocled gastropod on the label has me thinking pretty highly of this beer already. To the beer!

REVIEW: Three Floyds Rabbid Rabbit
It's been a while since I've ventured into the beers of Three Floyds. I really dig their stuff, but it seems like it's a rare day when I spot many of their brews gracing the shelves of my local liquor store or bottle shop. So when I recently saw this bottle I snapped it up. A saison brewed with chamomile and rock candy. Sounds tasty! To the beer!

REVIEW: Columbus Summer Teeth
Today brings us the last of the beers from the Columbus trip. We're wrapping up with a beer from another brewery that frustratingly, does not distribute to Cincinnati. I was first exposed to Columbus Brewing's offerings at last year's Beerfest where I had the exceptional Bodhi and the unbelievably good Creeper. Neither of those today though. Instead I'm taking a look at Summer Teeth, their summer seasonal, a kellerbier. Which is an old German style of unfiltered lager that, heretofore I was unaware of. Let's get to it. To the beer!
