REVIEW: Schlafly Pilsner

As I sit down to write this review I'm still riding high on that huge Reds win over the Cardinals. Man, how good was Homer Bailey?! And how about Billy Hamilton making his big league debut, picking up his first career steal, and scoring the game winning run on a huge hit from Todd Frazier? And finally, that is about as dominant as I can ever remember Aroldis Chapman looking. What a huge win. Unfortunately, down here in my new apartment in Lexington, I don't have any Cincinnati beers to drink. I do have one from St. Louis though, oddly enough. Schlafly is one of the few breweries that distribute to Kentucky, but not to Ohio. Anyways, today I have a tall glass of Schlafly Pilsner, which checks in at 5.0% ABV and 30 IBU. To the beer!

REVIEW: Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale

So I recently found myself in Indianapolis again visiting friends. And what do I do when in a new city? Make my way to the best liquor store in town and spend too much money on beers that I can't get at home. You may remember that the last time I was in Indy I came home with a bottle of Boulevard's Double-Wide. An excellent double IPA and my first ever beer from the venerable Kansas City brewer. This weekend I made sure to grab another of their brews and found myself drawn to the bottle you see above. Tank 7, an 8.5% ABV 38 IBU saison. To the beer!

REVIEW: Boulevard Double-Wide IPA

A bit of a departure on the blog today, not in content, but we'll get back to that in a second. It's a departure in that I'm posting on a Thursday. I've stuck to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule since starting the blog but today is kind of special. Today is IPA Day. Now on the one hand, I think it's kind of silly. Every other day is IPA Day as far as my beer drinking is concerned. But also, I ought to take any chance to sing the praises of my favorite beer style, the venerable India Pale. More info about IPA Day can be found here. I've even got a special IPA for the occasion. Double-Wide IPA from Kansas City's Boulevard brewing. It's a part of their Smokestack Series and instead of being capped it's corked and caged. This is another of the beers I got in my trip to Indianapolis. Sorry Cincinnati readers, this one will require a road trip for you. To the beer!
