REVIEW: Avery Odio Equum

I'm doing my damnedest to get this blog back on some kind of schedule. We'll get there. I've tried in the bast to get into sour ales. I quite liked Duchesse Du Bourgogne, I was less fond of Uinta's Birthday Suit. I think it's fair to call my experience with sours a mixed bag. I'm not one to let a momentary setback get in between me and an entire segment of the craft beer world. Especially when I'm staring at a bottle from one of my all time favorite breweries. Avery's Odio Equum is a 7.1% ABV sour brewed with raspberries and aged for an entire year in cabernet sauvignon barrels. To the beer!

REVIEW: Uinta Birthday Suit

So Yesterday was my birthday (I've taken note of each and every one of you who failed to shower me with lavish gifts. You're officially on watch.) And I thought it might be fun to do a special beer for the occasion. I was recently perusing the shelves at Jungle Jim's when I came across this bottle from Uinta. It's a beer brewed to celebrate their twentieth anniversary. I had no idea that they'd been around for that long! Shows what I know I guess. But anyway, the beer is Birthday Suit, a 7.4% ABV sour brown ale. Seems appropriate right? To the beer!

REVIEW: Brouwerij Verhaeghe Duchesse De Bourgogne

So today I'm finally looking at my first sour ale. I'm kind of excited. Sours seem to be the hottest trend in craft beer, but for whatever reason I have yet to really get into them, on the blog or off. My friend Zach recently opened up a wine store, Oakley Wines, check them out, very cool spot. In addition to more wine than you can shake a stick at they also have a pretty solid craft beer selection. I was there not too long ago and snagged this bottle, Duchesse De Bourgogne, a Flanders red ale. Let's not waste any more time. To the beer!
