REVIEW: Founders All Day IPA

Long time readers of the blog will remember that this isn't the first time that I've taken a look at this beer. Way back during last years Cincinnati beer week I had this at a very cool pint night event at the Cock & Bull in Hyde Park. I wrote out some quick thoughts, but I really like this beer and it deserves its own proper post. So here we go with Founders' All Day IPA, a 4.7% ABV 42 IBU session IPA. To the beer!

REVIEW: Mt. Carmel Summer Wheat

It has been hot in Cincinnati lately. Very hot. Temperatures in the high 80s to mid 90s. I need a beer to cut through this heat. And since today is officially the first day of Summer, what better way to do it than with a Summer seasonal. I was a bit leery of Mt. Carmel's Summer offering. I'm not the biggest fan of wheat ales but on closer inspection I saw that their Summer Wheat clocks in at 34 IBUs. Pretty bitter for a wheat ale! My curiosity has been piqued. And Mt Carmel hasn't disappointed me in the past so here we go. Also a couple things about the label for this beer. I never realized until after visiting the brewhouse, but the building on the label is the actual Mt. Carmel brewing facility. And how great a touch is the cornhole boards on the label?! If that isn't summer in Cincinnati, I don't know what is. To the beer!

REVIEW: 21st Amendement Bitter American

Sessionable craft beer is a bit of a hot subject these days. Full flavored yet light in alcohol beers seem to be popping up more and more lately, I talked about Founder's new All Day IPA and Mt. Carmel's Springtime Ale earlier. Heck, Notch Brewing out of Ipswitch, Massachusetts has made it a point to brew Nothing but session beers. Not one of their beers clocks in at over 4.5% ABV. Today's Session beer is Bitter American, A pale ale from San Fransisco's 21st Amendment. It's a shame that I can only give you one picture of this can. 21st Amendment has some of the best design in beer and this one is no exception. The opposite side of this can features a chimp in a spacesuit. If that can't get me to buy a six pack, nothing can. To the beer!

REVIEW: Mt. Carmel Springtime Ale

So I owe you readers an apology. I've been running this blog for almost two months. I bill it as a Cincinnati-centric beer blog yet I still haven't done a full fledged review of a Cincinnati beer. Sure I've talked about Cincinnati beers in my posts on the winter beerfest and bockfest but I've never done a dedicated review and for that I am sorry. I have let you all down. Today that changes. Today I review a beer from what is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries in town: Mt. Carmel. I have yet to have a beer of their's that I haven't enjoyed. Also, since spring is finally here it's time to start getting into some new seasonals. Without further ado, to the beer!
