REVIEW: Oskar Blues G'Knight

Well it's Friday, and that brings us to the end of this little week of Oskar Blues I've cooked up here. Don't worry, there will certainly be more. Mama's Little Yella Pils and Old Chub were both hits, hopefully today's makes it a clean sweep. The beer today is G'Knight an Imperial red ale. I'm thinking this beer will be very similar in style to the Hop Head Red from Green Flash that I looked at a while ago. Apropos of nothing, I've been talking about Oskar Blues' beers all week and I just now noticed the ColoRADo at the bottom of the can. Love that. There's also a very cool story behind this beer. It's named after Gordon Knight, a brewer and Vietnam veteran, and firefighter who passed away when his helicopter went down while fighting a forest fire. REVIEW: Oskar Blues Old Chub

Today brings my second entry in my little week of Oskar Blues. This morning we look at Old Chub. An 8% AVB Scotch Ale. I often profess my love for the hoppiest of the hoppy beer, the hop bombs, if you will. Well Old Chub is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, A malt bomb. REVIEW: Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils

What a joyous day it is to be a beer nerd in Cincinnati! The great Colorado brewery and the forefathers of canned craft beer, Oskar Blues, are finally available in Ohio. I first became aware of their delicious brews when I enjoyed them while visiting my younger brother in Annapolis, Maryland. They were lovely and I was immediately despondent that I couldn't get them at home. Well, my misery is over and in celebration, this week will be chock full of Oskar Blues goodness. First, Mama's Little Yella Pils. Let's just take a moment to take a look at that can. Quite the pretty little piece of work. Love that gold, black, and red color scheme. To the beer!

REVIEW: Sun King/ Oskar Blues Chaka

Well, this is the end of the Sun King, at least for now. But we're going out with a good one. A Belgian Style collaboration ale from Sun King and Oskar Blues. Oskar Blues is probably the brewery that I am most disappointed does not distribute to Ohio. Their Dale's Pale Ale and Mama's Little Yella Pils are both tremendous beers that I wish I could get more often. But for now I'll just have to settle for this. I'm always excited to see what concoctions emerge from collaborations between talented beers. This beer is also notable for the type of can it's contained in. Oskar Blues and Sun King both can all of their beers but this is the first time either brewery has used this 16 oz resealable can. It's similar to what you may ahve seen being used by Miller Lite or Coors Light. I think it's a safe bet that the beer contained in this can will be quite a bit more tasty than those two.
