REVIEW: Brooklyn East India Pale Ale

It's been far too long since I've taken a look at a beer from Brooklyn. Almost a year in fact since I talked about their terrific Oktoberfest. But the liquor store down the road from my new apartment has had the East India Pale Ale here on sale so here we go. To the beer!
It pours a very pretty coppery amber in color underneath a tall layer of frothy, loosely bubbled off white head that leaves some spotty lacing.

On the nose I get notes of floral earthy hop along with a touch of citrusy lemon. The hop aromas are countered by a sweet bready maltiness.

East India Pale Ale is light to medium bodied with a very nice creamy smoothness. Sweet, bready, slightly toasty malt flavor gives way to a subtle fruitiness with notes of apple and pear. Earthy, floral hop flavors come in on the back end with a very mild bitterness.

I like this one a lot. Subtle, measured, approachable, with a very nice depth of flavor. If the bitterness scares you away from IPAs, an English style ale like this one might be right up your alley. Once again, Brooklyn does not disappoint.
