REVIEW: Founders All Day IPA

Long time readers of the blog will remember that this isn't the first time that I've taken a look at this beer. Way back during last years Cincinnati beer week I had this at a very cool pint night event at the Cock & Bull in Hyde Park. I wrote out some quick thoughts, but I really like this beer and it deserves its own proper post. So here we go with Founders' All Day IPA, a 4.7% ABV 42 IBU session IPA. To the beer!

All Day IPA pours a very pretty vibrant pale gold. It's topped by a thin but resilient layer of bright white foam that leaves spotty lacing.

The real star of the show here is the aromas. Huge, fresh piney notes burst out of the top of the glass. Plenty of caramel malt and a subtle, yet pretty robust citrusy fruitiness. Pretty lovely stuff. very fresh, very bright.

All Day IPA is light in body, not shocking given the scant 4.7% ABV. It has a creamy slickness on the mouthfeel. Delicate caramelly, slightly biscuity malt flavor takes over a blast of prickly carbonation. Light floral, citrusy hop flavors come in afterwards. The bitterness on this beer is very interesting. It manifests as a quick punch rather than a bracing, lingering, drying bitterness.

Like I said before, I really like this beer. Drinkable, balanced, bright, fresh, incredibly flavorful, with some absolutely tremendous set of aromas. One of these days I'm actually going to have to test the name and grab a case and enjoy it outside all day. That sounds pretty all right.
